Ven Collection
Design Within Reach

Named for the Danish word for “friend”, Ven represents the collaboration between Danish midcentury modern master Jens Risom and American designer Chris Hardy. Ven pushes customizability to the fore while remaining true to Risom’s aesthetic of warm woods, balanced proportions and meticulously aligned hardware. All pieces in the Ven Collection are combinations of five basic cabinets, resulting in solutions that satisfy storage needs in the living room, office, bedroom, dining room and entryway.

Barca
Special Commission

Designed for a special commission, the Barca table features a robust yet flexible composition. The large dowel detailing paired with the asymmetrical staggering of the base components reveals the relationship between parts. The straightforward design allows for easy customization of tops in varying shapes and lengths.

Helix Collection
Design Within Reach

Helix is arranged from basic parts: walnut, brass and glass. The brass castings are used to create movement, radiating out from the center leg to the outer while enriching the material palette. Both tables use an odd number of legs – five for the coffee table and three for the side table. This asymmetrical layering of material and form gives the design its character. Its name, Helix, references the composition of primitive shapes and materials forming elevations of movement. The Helix provides glass top options in round, oval and square so the consumer can select a shape that best suits their interior needs. Requiring no tools for assembly, the consumer is allowed the experience of organically interacting with the piece by assembling it with their hands.

Wig
FontanaArte

Inspired by the concept of society-a unique, organic social structure formed through the relationships that connect an individual to a greater community. The idea of a single mass constructed of smaller individual elements created an interesting concept to visualize through form. The form is comprised of many pieces delicately working together, creating a larger mass. A single piece on its own is seemingly insignificant, but when arranged together a greater relationship is revealed. This composition gives the fixture a unique character, adding life and personality to the object and furthermore, the context in which it is placed.

Buzzibell
Commission

Distinguished by the harmonious curve of its bell shape, BuzziBell is a pendant light that adds sound-absorbing texture overhead. The curved shape has an increased performance on capturing sound waves in the room. Engineered from BuzziFelt, a propriety material made from recycled plastic bottles, it softens spaces where conversations travel. BuzziBell makes a design statement, while its LED light disc ensures optimal light spread and efficiency.

A practice inspired by the evolving kinship between industry and philosophy, Chris Hardy Design pursues creation of form using sensible materials, contemporary principles and thoughtful design that enable considered human experiences. Reflecting the operating premise of our studio, we build intelligence, purpose and meaning into our methodology and project approach. We are based in Atlanta, Georgia and partner with legacy brands and interior design firms around the globe.
